This past Thanksgiving, me and my wife signed up for a 5K Turkey Trot. I wanted to sign up for a fun run that my wife might enjoy. I thought it would be a good idea to get in a little family exercise before going on an eating spree! Also, in our way of giving thanks for all that we are blessed with, I wanted to do a run with a good cause.
I found a local Turkey Trot that was for a good cause. CauseLife was having their 3rd annual Turkey Trot at Huntington Beach and I figured what a better place to run than on the beach! The money raised from the race goes to providing clean water to third-world countries around the world. With 1000 participants this year, the event was able to raise enough money to drill six wells and provide clean water to approximately 2000 people. It was a really fun run for me and my family and I like what the organization stands for: Clean water for all.
Here a some pictures from our 5K Turkey Trot. We had such a great time that I am hoping to do this every year! Also, I hope to start a new family Thanksgiving tradition that helps keep my family healthy and gives back to those who will benefit from it. Isn’t that what Thanksgiving is all about?
Do you have any holiday running traditions that you participate in? Thank you for “running” with us!!
