Happy Valentine’s Day

Valentines Day Card

You see, before having kids, Valentine’s Day was about having a fancy dinner and showering gifts to that special someone. I would make reservations at a restaurant where it would be super crowded with all the lovebirds around. Now with two toddlers in the mix, Valentine’s Day does not necessarily fall on February 14. It is celebrated when we are able to get some adult time away from the kids..

This year, we actually had Valentine’s Day off together. Since we seldom have days off together, we try to schedule appointments and other important errands on those days so that I can help the Wifey with tasks that need to get done.

Today was no exception.

We started the morning dropping off the girls to preschool where they had their own Valentine’s party. Then it was off to get our ultrasound of baby #3. After that, we went over and added some items to our baby shower gift registry. A quick lunch at Lee’s Sandwich then we headed off to get our taxes done.

Yep. A pretty romantic errand-filled day for us, eh?

When it comes to organization, my wife is probably the best. She usually has days planned 2-3 months in advanced. Well, her mommy-brain got the best of her and we had a little scheduling misstep. We thought our friend’s wedding was on Saturday and booked a babysitter to come over and watch the girls so we can attend the wedding. It turns out that the wedding was on Sunday!

Anyways, as it turned out, it was probably not the worse thing to happen. I figured we can still have the sitter come over and I can take the Wifey out to a nice dinner. It was set, dinner was booked, and planned to get some ice cream for dessert!

Then we grabbed some dessert at Milk.

If Valentine’s Day means a day full of love and hearts, then I guess everyday is Valentine’s Day for me because I am lucky enough to be getting both love and hearts from my wife and daughters on a daily basis.

Glad you guys got a chance to celebrate! Congrats on #3 on the way — and your little girls are adorable! I’ve been to the Stinking Rose and it’s good. Nice choice :)

Thanks Melanie! We’re excited for #3! It was our first time at the Stinking Rose. We didn’t try the Garlic Ice Cream for dessert. We didn’t even know about it until one of our friends brought it up. Maybe next time!

I’m not pregnant and I still would have thought a wedding would be on a Saturday as well! Glad you have a nice weekend with your wife! I’ve never heard of Milk but that dessert looks so good!

I probably would’ve made the same mistake regarding the wedding! Yeah, Milk was really good. Luckily, we only had to wait in line for 25 minutes. I heard it can get pretty packed and the wait can be as long as 45-60 minutes!!

Sounds like you had a *Fantastic* Valentine’s Day! (Love Milk & the Stinking Rose, btw!)

My husband and I are planning on starting to have kids at the end of this year. Yikes! We’re just wanderers, one of my worries is being limited in our times to be adventurous when the kiddos come. We certainly can’t get away for V-Day to Vegas on a whim, which is what we did this year!

We’ll probably look to you guys on how you balance life and kids for the future!

Kids make traveling a whole new experience. When we first had a kid, we thought our travel was going to be limited also. But, we found that is not the case. It just takes a lot more planning and preparation when you have a little one. We didn’t really travel until she was 10 months old. No more spontaneous weekend getaways, but they make life so worth it!

But, how I do miss Vegas, though!!

It was really nice and refreshing to read this! I’m glad your Valentine’s day workout how it did, it sounds enjoyable. I do not have children, but I can imagine sharing it with them now (and the wifey) is just as special!

Thanks Ganeeban!! It’s an awesome feeling getting those little cards from my girls! I have to cherish them now because I know in a few years they are not going to want to give hugs and kisses to their daddy!!

Thanks for stopping by, Travis! We just had to roll with the punches and make the best out of that situation. Some days, it works out in your favor. I’m just glad we were able to attend our friend’s wedding!
