July Means SF Marathon Month!

July is here and you know what that means!! The SF Half Marathon is less than two weeks away and I am in no way shape or form ready for this race! I am actually a little scared that I may not be prepare for the 13.1 miles on July 29th. I am hoping that I will be able to finish the race. I threw out my initial goal of running a sub-2 hr half marathon pace. Life happens and my priorities have changed when my daughter was born at the end of May. Also, we are in the process of buying a home…

Having a newborn in the house significantly reduces your time to train for any sport.You are in this constant haze of being half awake and half alseep. Your sleep pattern is determined by the newborn’s sleep pattern. One day it could be 2-3 hour stretches and others it could be not a single minute of shut eye. Add this sleep-deprived state to your already hectic work/life schedule and you can easily see how adding an extracurricular activity such as training for an endurance race seems almost impossible! I have to admit, I may have bitten off more than I can chew this time. But it doesn’t mean that I am not going to finish, it will just take me longer to swallow this HUGE piece of humble pie.
